On THE COACHES ROOM on the North Carolina Sports Network, host Mike Waddell marks one year since the passing of former Appalachian State head coach and two-time All-American offensive lineman Shawn Clark by interviewing his former App State offensive line coach, now Georgia’s OL coach, Stacy Searels. Searels recalls arriving in Boone in 1994, coaching Clark and fellow freshman Tony Paquette, and memories from a 9–4 season that ended with a playoff loss to Boise State. He describes Clark’s leadership, toughness through injuries and back surgery, and eventual success as an assistant and head coach.
