Bowl Game Television Schedules

Two Atlantic Coast Conference teams will participate in the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff, and four North Carolina teams will play in 2024 bowl games, with two long-time Old North State rivals drawing a head-to-head postseason matchup with each other.
ACC newcomer SMU (11-2), which lost 34-31 to Clemson on a last-second field goal in the conference championship game in Charlotte on Saturday night, received the final at-large bid to the College Football Playoff. The #11 Mustangs, whose other loss (to 10-2 BYU) also was by just a field goal, will visit #6 Penn State (11-2) in a first-round playoff contest on Dec. 21.
Clemson (10-3), which captured the ACC title for the eighth time in the last 10 years under coach Dabo Swinney, received a bid to the playoff as the fifth-highest-ranked conference champion. The #12 Tigers will visit #5 Texas (11-2) in a first-round playoff contest on Dec. 21.
Meanwhile, among North Carolina’s seven Football Bowl Subdivision teams, four earned bowl invitations, and two will play each other.
East Carolina (7-5) and NC State (6-6) will battle on Dec. 28 at the Military Bowl in Annapolis, Md. The Pirates and Wolfpack have played each other 20 times over the past 43 years, with each side winning 10 games.
Duke (9-3) has a chance to reach the 10-win mark for just the second time in program history, but it won’t be easy. The Blue Devils will face #14 Ole Miss (9-3) on Jan. 2 at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla.
North Carolina (6-6), which is playing in its sixth consecutive bowl game, will take on UConn (8-4) on Dec. 28 at the Fenway Bowl in Boston.
Appalachian State (5-6), Charlotte (5-7) and Wake Forest (4-8) did not reach the postseason this year. The Mountaineers (Shawn Clark to Dowell Loggains) and 49ers (Biff Poggi to Tim Albin) made coaching changes last week.
Loggains, who served as an assistant coach in the National Football League for more than a decade, was the offensive coordinator at South Carolina for the past two seasons. Albin just led Ohio to three straight 10-win seasons and the 2024 Mid-American Conference championship.
