Mel Quitman, Jr

Mel “JR” Quitman, Jr is an accomplished producer and director, having worked in broadcast media for the last 20 years in various roles in the State of North Carolina, including his current full-time role as Technical Director at WWAY-3 in Wilmington.

Quitman is the Coordinating Producer for the North Carolina Sports Network, managing all production in-studio and remotely.  JR is a key part of the management team, joining Mike Waddell & David Glenn in planning out the strategic future of NCSN.

Since 2021 Quitman has produced the highly successful “IN THE FRONT ROW” podcast alongside Veteran UNC-Wilmington play-by-play broadcaster Mike Vaccaro as well as The Podcast with Wills Maxwell.

A native of Asheville, N.C., Quitman is a former football standout for A.C. Reynolds High School where he played for legendary head coach Bobby Poss. A member of the 1997 North Carolina Shrine Bowl team, Quitman went on to play collegiately at NC State University for both Mike O’Cain and Chuck Amato.
