LAUNCH OF 2023 OLD NORTH STATE TAILGATE TOUR
Crew to Travel to College and High School Games and Towns to Tell NC Grid Story
(August 14, 2023 | RALEIGH) BRENTWOOD PARTNERS, LLC, is pleased to announce the creation of a new, weekly event tour focused on football in the state of North Carolina. The OLD NORTH STATE TAILGATE & TRAVELING SPORTS CIRCUS (@ONSTailgate) will be featured on the newly created NORTH CAROLINA SPORTS NETWORK (@TheNCSportsNet), beginning Saturday, Aug. 19, and extending for 18 stops over the course of the 2023 football season.
The presenting sponsor for the OLD NORTH STATE TAILGATE & TRAVELING SPORTS CIRCUS is the North Carolina Pork Council (@NCPork).
Each three-hour tour stop will feature fan engagement activities and a chance to talk football directly with the broadcast crew. Depending on the location, the group also will huddle up and broadcast — either LIVE or on a short delay — on NCSN’s official YouTube channel (YouTube.com/@TheNCSportsNet) for a one-hour show focused on the weekend’s games featuring North Carolina teams, from high school to college to the NFL.
NCSN’s team is led by 25-year broadcasting veteran DAVID GLENN (@DavidGlennShow), an award-winning announcer/journalist and long-time host of the David Glenn Show. Glenn will be joined by veteran play-by-play voice and studio host CHRIS EDWARDS, long-time college and NFL coach JIMMY COLLINS (Appalachian State, Duke, Elon, Florida, UNC, Washington/NFL, etc.), former NC State and AC Reynolds High School lineman MEL “JR” QUITMAN and others with gridiron-specific expertise.
Veteran athletics administrator and broadcaster MIKE WADDELL will be another regular contributor to the on-site show, which also will feature site-specific “Hometown Heroes,” who will join the NCSN crew and share their passion for their school and for football in North Carolina. For example, former UNC and NFL placekicker CONNOR BARTH will join the show in late August.
The 2023 schedule will launch Saturday, Aug. 19, at the inaugural WAKE COUNTY CLASH | US ARMY BE ALL YOU CAN BE CLASSIC, the first American football games ever played at the world-class WakeMed Soccer Park facility in Cary. The first game features Apex Friendship vs. Millbrook, while the nightcap will match Middle Creek against Fuquay-Varina.
The tour’s early season stops (through mid-September) will include the following dates and cities:

Aug. 26 NCSN College Football Preview Show, Jimmy’s bar, Wrightsville Beach
Sept. 2 South Carolina vs. North Carolina, Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte
Sept. 4 Clemson at Duke, Wallace Wade Stadium, Durham
Sept. 9 NC Central at North Carolina A&T, Truist Stadium, Greensboro
Sept. 16 East Carolina at Appalachian State, Kidd-Brewer Stadium, Boone
Additional tour dates will be announced at least two weeks in advance of the events.
