*** NOTE: If you’re looking for OUTGOING 2025 transfers, please click HERE for those of the ACC’s 18 teams or HERE for those of the other 15 North Carolina-based men’s basketball teams. The INCOMING transfers for the in-state, non-ACC programs can be found HERE. ***
Four Atlantic Coast Conference basketball programs were represented in the 2025 McDonald’s All-American Game, and at least eight ACC teams have secured highly ranked recruiting classes (including transfers) for the 2025-26 season, with Duke, North Carolina, Louisville, NC State, Syracuse and Miami leading the way.
The 2025 McDonald’s game included six future ACC players (in order of their composite national ranking): #2 Cameron Boozer (Duke), #6 Caleb Wilson (UNC), #9 Mikel Brown Jr. (Louisville), #19 Jalen Haralson (Notre Dame), #20 Nikolas Khamenia (Duke) and #22 Cayden Boozer (Duke). The Boozers, who are fraternal twins, are sons of former Duke/NBA forward Carlos Boozer.
Another five-star high school prospect, wing forward Shelton Henderson, signed with Duke in November but was released from his national letter of intent on April 17. Just a few days later, Henderson signed with Miami, now led by former Duke assistant coach Jai Lucas.
The month of April also represented the bulk of the NCAA’s 2025 transfer window for men’s basketball. This year, that window was open for only 30 days (March 24-April 22), down from 45 days in 2024 and 60 days in 2023.
While Duke was still playing in the NCAA Tournament, other ACC schools were able to begin conducting visits with their transfer targets. Like last year, Louisville quickly reeled in multiple major college transfers were who all-conference honorees for their previous teams.
Meanwhile, most of the top high school seniors signed with their college of choice during the NCAA’s early signing period, which in the 2024-25 cycle ran from Nov. 13-20 last year.
According to the 247 Sports Composite rankings entering August, the incoming groups signed by the Blue Devils (#1) and Tar Heels (#7) ranked among the top 10 nationally, while those secured by the Cardinals (#10), Wolfpack (#14), Orange (#19), Hurricanes (#20), Notre Dame (#23) and SMU (#24) also ranked in the top 25.
When considering the scholarship numbers listed below, remember that the recently approved House-NCAA legal settlement effectively eliminated the long-standing 13-scholarship limit in men’s basketball while instituting a 15-man roster cap (regardless of scholarship/walk-on status) in the sport.
Under NBA rules, college players who were contemplating entry into the 2025 NBA draft had until April 26 to make their intentions official. The NCAA’s early entry withdrawal deadline this year was May 28; the NBA’s early entry withdrawal deadline was June 15.
High school seniors who missed the early signing period last November had another opportunity to sign their binding national letter of intent during the Spring 2025 (April 16-May 21) signing period.
